Comment by MANLAND NORTH! on December 15, 2012 at 3:44pm LAUGHING DOG BREWING "THE DOGFATHER" IMPERIAL STOUT. This one is for all of my Stout brothers ... What we have here is an Imperial Stout that's aged in Bourbon barrels. Lots of roasted, chocolate malts with a hint of bourbon flavor. 10.85% ABV ain't effin around. If this one doesn't raise your flag, you might be dead.

Comment by MANLAND NORTH! on October 27, 2012 at 4:03pm FIRESTONE WOOKEY JACK BLACK RYE IPA. I'm really digging the black IPA style these days as it combines the best of a stout/porter with the citrus bitterness of a good IPA. Firestone's Wookey Jack is an excellent example of the style with a twist: they also add rye to the ingredients. I can't taste much of the rye compared to the roasted malt and pine citrus bite. 8.3% ABV. Very tasty.
Comment by MANLAND NORTH! on September 15, 2012 at 5:46pm SIERRA NEVADA OVILA BELGIAN-STYLE GOLDEN ALE. Sierra Nevada's latest Belgian release under the Ovila Label. This one reminds me of Duvel's Golden Ale crossed with a nice Saison's spice right down to the never-ending carbonation and billowing head. Has a deceptively easy to drink flavor with an 8.5% ABV waiting to kick your ass. This is one excellent beer.
Comment by MANLAND NORTH! on August 12, 2012 at 1:47pm NEW BELGIUM RED HOPTOBER. Fall / Autumn beers are showing up on the beer shelves already. Red Hoptober is New Belgium's Seasonal offering. It has a nice maltiness with Cascade hop bitterness and the classic New Belgium yeast flavor.
