DESCRIPTION: Here's a beer from one of the world's oldest brewers that any fan of dark-style brews will love. Germany's Weihenstephaner makes one of the best Doppelbocks around. This is the real deal, dudes – no dry hopping schemes or fancy brewing ingredients.
Weihenstephaner calls Korbinian an “extremely dark-colored double bock for both Stout-beer lovers and the beer connoisseur. Lots of malt with a mild sweetness.”
POUR/TASTE: I love dark beers with a heavy malt taste and Korbinian doesn't disappoint. This is one serious malt fest with it's medium-bodied goodness that's killer to drink. Korbinian holds its own even against the world's most well-known Doppelbock, the Ayinger Celebrator. There is a hint of sweetness to this brew, but not one that gets overbearing the more you drink. True to the style, Korbinian has a higher ABV of 7.4%, which is the style's only drawback in my opinion because it is such an easy beer to drink. A couple of these bad boys will have you seeing double in a hurry … you be the judge if that's a good thing or not!
BUY IT AGAIN? Hell, yes. I have bought several of these epic beers over the last year and plan to continue to stock it in the Manland North beer fridge. All of Weihenstephaner's brews are awesome and if you want to taste what authentic German brewing really tastes like, try any one of their beers.
