DESCRIPTION: WINTER IS UPON US and its time for seasonal winter beers. Celebration Ale from Sierra Nevada is one of the brewer's seasonal offerings and it's a good one. Sierra calls Celebration a “wonderfully robust and rich Ale that is dry-hopped for a lively, intense aroma. Brewed especially for the holidays, it is perfect for a festive gathering or for a quiet evening at home.”

POUR/TASTE: I'm going to cut right to the chase in this review and tell you that this is an excellent beer. Unlike the heavier Winter offerings by some brewers, Sierra chose to brew an excellent IPA as its Winter brew, and its very good. There's a nice balance between the two-row pale and English caramel malts and the Cascade and Centennial hops. The dry hopping of the Chinook hops add a nice, yet not abusive, bittering taste at the end of the sip. I am not normally a big IPA drinker, but this one is right on the mark.

BUY IT AGAIN? Yes. Celebration Ale has the classic Sierra Nevada style taste that fits the bill for a kick-ass winter seasonal brew. Killer flavor keeps you sipping and 6.8% ABV warms you up pretty quickly ….

If you are a "IPA guy", must buy this beer. As for me, I could pass and crack open one of their great wheat beers instead.

2011 REVIEW UPDATE: Hard to believe that two years have passed since I first tried Celebration Ale. In that time, I've become much more of an IPA fan and I dig a very bitter IPA every now and then. Celebration is a wonder IPA that as I stated two years ago isn't too over the top, bitterness wise. I found a 12er on sale last week for $11.99 -- that's a heck of a deal for a kick-ass American IPA.

Any other Manlanders out there who've tried this beer? Let us know what you thought of it ....

Cheers, MLN
